John Bradley, who played Samwell Tarly on Game of Thrones, claims that the latest project from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, The Three-Body Problem, will be even bigger in scope than the hit fantasy series. Based on the Hugo Award-winning novel of the same name by Liu Cixin, the Netflix series was announced in September 2020 with the former Game of Thrones showrunners confirmed to be developing the adaptation. Production on the science-fiction show began in November 2021 and is set to wrap later this year.

After the publication of its English translation by Ken Liu in 2012, the novel helped popularize Chinese science fiction in the international market and even received endorsement from George R.R. Martin, author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. Along with Bradley, The Three-Body Problem series also reunites the show's creators with Thronesalumnus Liam Cunningham, best known for his role as Davos Seaworth, staunch ally of King Stannis Baratheon. The series will be the first television outing for Benioff and Weiss as a writing team since penning the infamous finale of HBO's fantasy epic in 2019, which left more than a few fans feeling short-changed.
