Besides the Three Hopes spin-off, a new, mainline Fire Emblem game could release in the second half of 2022, if not 2023.
With the announcement of a second Fire Emblem Warriors game releasing in June, it’s easy to assume that the next mainline entry is still a long way off, with the spin-off existing only to whet fans’ appetites.
One insider, however, claims that, despite its absence during the most recent Nintendo Direct, a new entry from series developer Intelligent Systems is not only pretty far along in development, but it could also feasibly release later this year.
Emily Rogers, who is regarded as a trusted source on Nintendo related information, made her claim on the Famiboards forum site, saying that a new Fire Emblem is close to completion and has been in development for over three years.
Considering the last game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, launched in 2019, development on the next entry likely started shortly after it came out. Rogers adds that Intelligent Systems has been assisted by another support studio. She didn’t name them but it’s possibly Koei Tecmo, which aided development on Three Houses and is working on the new Fire Emblem Warriors.
Rogers argues that the new Fire Emblem could feasibly release in October alongside Bayonetta 3, which she implies is currently on schedule for that month – although officially it has no release date beyond this year.
This would match with Nintendo’s release schedule so far, as it has at least two wildly different games coming almost every month to cover all possible bases. March, for example, has the new, child friendly Kirby platformer and the retro-orientated Triangle Strategy game.
