Xbox Live Games With Gold somewhat faded into the background since the launch of Game Pass for PC and consoles. Still, Gold subscribers continue to gain access to two or more free games every month.
The free games for April 2022 include The Flame in the Flood, Sacred 2, Street Power Soccer, and SpongeBob’s Truth or Square. The first two are available a day early, letting Xbox Live Gold Subscribers download them today, February 28th.

Xbox Live Gold is the minimum requirement to play most Xbox games online, with the notable exceptions of free-to-play games like Fortniteand Apex Legends. It runs about $10 a month individually or $15 when bundled with Game Pass Ultimate. Subscribers can download The Flame in the Flood from today, February 28th, until March 31st. Meanwhile, they can grab Sacred 2: Fallen Angel until March 15th. Players will have to wait until March 16th to pick up Street Power Soccer or SpongeBob’s Truth or Square.
For those not familiar with the titles, The Flame in The Flood is a 2016 roguelike survival game developed by independent studio The Molasses Flood. Players take the role of a young girl called Scout as she and her dog try to survive an apocalyptic flood. The player needs to manage Scout’s energy, thirst, hunger, and warmth as she and her dog navigate a large river in their tiny raft. The game saw mixed reviews at launch, but many critics praised The Flame in The Flood’s survival gameplay despite its flaws.
