Those wanting a traditional Fire Emblem experience may have been disappointed by the news, but it seems that there is indeed a new main series Fire Emblem game on the way, if a reputable Nintendo insider is to be believed.
Nintendo insider Emily Rogers has claimed that Intelligent Systems has been working on a new Fire Emblem game. Rogers describes the game as a «wild card,» speculating that it will potentially release in October 2022 or early 2023. Rogers said that the game is «nearly finished with its development» and has been in the works for over three years at Intelligent Systems and a support studio.

Rogers addressed the concern that Nintendo might not be willing to release two Fire Emblem games in the same year, even if one is a Dynasty Warriors-style spin-off like Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Rogers pointed out that Nintendo has released two Fire Emblem games in the same year before, like when it released the original Fire Emblem Warriors in 2017 alongside Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
