As terror descends on the country, Yara is using her platform to speak up for her home nation.
Since it was announced that Russia began its invasion of Ukraine, Yara has been spotlighting the conflict on her Instagram. Over a number of social media posts, Yara admitted she was very scared and worried about her loved ones and the state of her home country amid the invasion. Sharing a photo of herself in her native capital city Kyiv, Yara urged her followers, "I want to ask y’all, let's pray for Ukraine please it’s so important now." Yara has now taken her support for Ukraine beyond social media to appear on a national news outlet to offer an update on her family.

Yara appeared on a Fox News segment on February 25 to speak about her loved ones' experience in Ukraine. "I would never think before that in 2022 that can something happen like this," she shared. Yara said her family and friends are terrified and unable to sleep over the fear they will lose their lives. "Nobody was prepared for this," she said of the Russian bombings on Kyiv. According to Yara, many of her friends tried to flee the capital city but mile-long lines for trains stopped them from leaving.
