The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an absolutely massive game with plenty for players to see, collect, and do. Of course, like any other open world game, that doesn't stop players from inventing their own ways to entertain themselves. Sometimes that calls for creating unique gaming challenges, but sometimes players just want to have a little fun making the main character look silly.
Breath of the Wild introduced a lot of unique methods of transportation, perhaps the most notable of which is the hang glider, but shield surfing is also a popular addition. By hopping onto his shield, Link can slide down hills and snowy paths, go flying through the air over long distances with certain tricks, or simply fall flat on his face, as one player shared.

Over on Reddit, user Adept-Percentage2331 uploaded a video making Link look absolutely ridiculous. The hero of Hyrule repeatedly flops onto the floor, at one point rolling down a hill and landing in a heap at the bottom. The trick Adept-Percentage2331 is utilizing requires jumping into the air, quickly equipping a shield so that Link shifts his position so that he can land on it, then removing and re-equipping a shield all before he reaches the ground. If done correctly, Link ends up falling like a ragdoll, faceplanting onto the ground or landing flat on his back. The trick can be done without any forward momentum, making it look like Link has just forgotten how to use his legs in the moment.
While Breath of the Wild's shields were intended to be used as both a form of defense and a method of transportation, players have found a lot of ways to utilize them that weren't intended by the developers.
