Overwatch 2 players have discovered a new bug in the game that prevents the newest support hero Illari from using her Solar Rifle to heal Reaper while he's in Wraith Form. Now in its ninth season, Overwatch 2 put out a new update bringing its Cowboy Bebop crossover to the game. The recent patch also brought some changes to projectile size, passive role abilities, and more.
Having been added to the game as part of Season 6 last August, Illari gives Overwatch 2 support players an opportunity to be a bit more offensive in between healing teammates. While her deadly skill shots are best used at range, her Solar Rifle's healing beam can only be applied at a much shorter distance, which makes sense considering she's designed to mostly be used in the backline of her team. That being said, Illari's healing beam comes secondary to her deployable healing pylon, which can be placed in hard-to-see places as the hero's main form of healing, provided it's not quickly destroyed by opponents.
After this latest patch, it seems that some Overwatch 2 fans have noticed a crucial bug having to do with Illari's healing capabilities, specifically in regard to Reaper and his Wraith Form ability. On Reddit, Raice19 posted a short clip of the bug in Overwatch 2's practice range. Reaper, with health missing, went into Wraith Form while Illari had her healing beam pointed at him. Strangely, Reaper's health didn't begin to restore until after this Wraith Form had ended.
While Illari is designed to stay behind her frontline teammates, Reaper is primarily a flanking hero who takes advantage of health packs in side rooms when not being pocketed by another healer. It's common practice for Reaper players in Overwatch 2to use the added speed of Wraith Form to safely disengage from a flank fight and get back to their team to be healed. Since Wraith Form can last some time, it's important for allied Illari players to be able to heal a critical Reaper as he returns from the flanks in Wraith Form, otherwise
