This new chapter of her life comes after a roller coaster of issues and social vices.

Mama June had the most drastic fall from TV grace with her former partner, Geno Doak, who has since been incarcerated. During this period, there were many ups and downs that saw Mama June, whose real name is June Shannon, distance herself from her family, sell her home and start an addiction to meth, all while she and Geno shuffled from truck house to truck house while spending so much money on drugs. Her daughters made many attempts so she could get help, but Mama June seemed far gone. During this tumultuous period, the reality star was seen as an unfit mom. Therefore, her youngest daughter, Alana «Honey Boo Boo,» had to live with her big sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin.” However, in February 2021, Mama June and Geno took their social media fans by surprise when they posted pictures showing they had become sober. The post also signified their first anniversary of being addiction-free. The former lovers were at the Banyan Treatment Center in Florida for 23 days, and Mama June and Geno continued on the path of sobriety after rehabilitation. However, six months after the announcement of the milestone, Geno was sentenced for a 2019 felony possession charge.
