Free Monster Hunter Rise DLC released to celebrate new Sunbreak sales milestone

Capcom has released a free Monster Hunter Rise DLC pack to celebrate the game’s Sunbreak expansion reaching a new sales milestone.

Having released on June 30 for Switch and PC, Sunbreak shipped two million copies within a week and has now surpassed three million, according to its publisher.

The free DLC, the Elgado Pack 3, is available from the add-on content menu at the Courier and includes the following items:

Capcom is planning to release Sunbreak’s first free title update in August.

“Not only do we have additional content like the new field and monsters, we plan to add new content regarding Anomaly Research, and more options to provide players with a greater range of difficulty,” it said last week.

In order to play the expansion, users are required to own the base Monster Hunter Rise game, which has now shipped over 10 million copies, according to Capcom.

VGC’s Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak review said: “The original Monster Hunter Rise is an absolutely fantastic game, so for this expansion to be just more would have been fine, but Sunbreak feels like it earns its price tag and then some.

“The barometer of good Monster Hunter content is if you want to run the same fights over and over to deck out your character in the entrails of the most horrific flying beast you’ve ever seen, and after only a few hours with Sunbreak, we could feel the addiction creeping back.

“Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak is an excellent expansion that will please those Hunters desperate for something new, just make sure you’re prepared, or you’ll quickly be rather sick of the sight of a group of Palicos hauling your lifeless body up the road.”
