Fortnite's Chapter 5, Season 2 (nicknamed Myths and Mortals) map has been revealed, giving us a good idea of where we're all going to be dropping for the next few months.
After what has felt like a long-winded yet incredibly memorable season thanks to Lego Fortnite and Peter Griffin, the long-awaited second season of Fortnite's fifth chapter is finally launching today. We've known for some time now that Chapter 5, Season 2 is going to be themed around Greek mythology and, thanks to the map being revealed, we now know how that's going to affect The Island.
As revealed by reliable Fortnite insider HYPEX, the new map for Chapter 5, Season 2 retains the same general shape and size of what we saw in the first season, but with some significant changes to the landscape. In fact, with two new biomes added to the map (including one particularly green one that looks to be tied to Hades), this might be one of the most unique maps Fortnite has seen in a while.
Outside of the two new biomes, the map looks to be keeping the snowy section of The Island that was introduced in Season 1, which is a little surprising considering previous maps have gotten rid of it as we move out of winter. We've also got the usual mix of grasslands, forests, and sandy biomes, although the gameplay trailer reveals that they'll look a lot different thanks to the Greek theme.
Even though the version of the map that HYPEX shared doesn't have any points of interest marked on it (or POIs if you're a Fortnite pro), the official site's blog post does reveal some of the more notable locations we'll be dropping into over the next few months. One of the ones that stands out the most is Mount Olympus, which is tied to Zeus and likely where players will be able to take him on and grab his lightning bolts to use as a mythical weapon.
The post also reveals that the gooey green area that stands out on the map is called Grim Gate, and it's where players can find Cerberus and get his Gatekeeper Shotgun after defeating
