Patrick Wyatt may not be a household name for many gamers, but his experience and achievements within the industry speak for themselves. Early in his career, Wyatt worked at Blizzard Entertainment, where he acted as the Vice President of Research and Development while also working as a senior programmer. Over his time at Blizzard, Wyatt contributed to some of the company's most popular franchises including Starcraft, Diablo, and Warcraft.
After finishing his employment at Blizzard, Wyatt went onto co-found ArenaNet, the company behind popular MMO Guild Wars. Following his time at ArenaNet, Wyatt has been working at One More Game, creating Spellcraft, which has just dropped its first in-engine trailer. Spellcraft looks to be a new strategy game with an emphasis around a game board, similar to tabletop RPGs or perhaps even strategy card games like Hearthstone. It seems that One More Games aren't entirely sure how to categorize Spellcraft, as it has simply labeled the game as a Real-Time Tactics title.
Ex-Blizzard Devs Are Making an Unreal Engine 5 RTS Game
There's not been much information on what a Real-Time Tactics game is, as Spellcraft marks a first for this new genre. According to Spellcraft's creators, players will have to sign on for the game's alpha to experience what it has to offer. From the trailer, not much was shown in the world of gameplay, but there were some hints as to what fans could expect. In the trailer, viewers will see a round game board, with eight pieces on it which then come to life. It's currently unknown if the game will portray the game and its pieces as real, or part of another character's imagination as in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
