Google's trying to deliver top-notch value with the Pixel 6a, but does it go all the way with an included charger? A few years ago, buying a phone and not getting a charger in the box would sound like a preposterous idea. And to some people, it still does. If a company asks you to spend $300, $500, or even $1000 on a new smartphone, it's fair to expect that it comes with all the tools you need to charge the device.
But that's no longer the world we live in. Since Apple removed the included charger with its iPhone 12 series, numerous other manufacturers have followed suit with their own devices. Most Samsung phones today don't have a charger in the box, the newest iPhones continue to ship without a charger, and even the Galaxy Tab S8 tablets omit an included charger. In a quest to be more environmentally friendly (and save a lot of money in the process), included chargers are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Unfortunately, this is also a trend that Google has since adopted. Google's older Pixels — including the Pixel 5a, Pixel 5, Pixel 4a, and Pixel 4 — all came with a free charger in the box. But starting with last year's Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google decided to remove the included charger. And that decision has continued with the Pixel 6a. Regardless of where you buy the Pixel 6a or which color you get, all Pixel 6a models are sold without a free charger in the box.
