Time to forget Apple Watch and plump for Apple Airpods instead? The jury is still out on that, but know here that AirPods emergency features just saved a woman's life! Yes, we are certain that most people have heard of Apple Watch saving lives, but Airpods too have now jumped on the bandwagon. So, what are AirPods used for? AirPods sole purpose is listening to music, but since they are on Bluetooth, they can be used with iPhones for calling or iPads etc. You can also talk to the Apple bot Siri too. On October 15, 2021, she met with an accident in her garage when she hit her head on a sharp metal pole and started bleeding. With no one nearby to contact for help, she realised she was wearing her AirPods. That’s how she used the "Hey Siri" command to dial emergency number 911, People reported.
And that worked! She immediately was connected with a 911 operator, who was able to stay on the call until police and paramedics arrived. Two police personnel soon reached Putman. One of them did the basic first aid as she was losing a lot of blood. Later in hospital, she got 7 stitches on the side of her head and was diagnosed with a concussion. Putman feels that she would have died if she hadn't had her AirPods on. She is now encouraging and highlighting the importance of AirPods and how it can help you during an emergency situation using Siri.
