Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth released a demo earlier this month that gave us a taste of the opening chapter ahead of the game's full release. That same demo is being expanded tomorrow, unlocking the "Dawn of a New Era" which will let us explore Junon's surroundings.
The update launches tomorrow at 4am PST / 12pm GMT, and some fans are so eager that they're already prepping for an early morning.
Not only will the update unlock an "open area near Junon", but it also features content "unique to the demo." That doesn't mean exclusive story beats you won't find in the full game, but summons and skills you normally won't have unlocked by that point.
The update also brings with it improved visual fidelity in performance mode, something fans have been complaining about since it launched on February 6.
Rebirth itself launches in nine days, so there's plenty of time to check out the demo. If you haven't had a chance yet, here are some of the highlights:
If you decide to play the demo, the progress you make in Nibelheim will carry over into the full game, meaning that you don't need to replay the opening when Rebirth launches. However, the newly unlocked Junon area that releases tomorrow will not carry over, so any progress made will be erased. This is because it's not a 1:1 accurate representation of the same area from the full game.
That being said, there are some rewards for taking part that you'll be able to reap when it comes to Rebirth's launch. Playing the demo will nab you the Kupo Charm, an accessory which helps you get more resources, and the Survival Set, a collection of potions and ethers.
