A virtual meeting between Italian lawmakers was recently interrupted by a very NSFW video featuring Final Fantasy VII Remake's Tifa Lockhart. A childhood friend of Cloud Strife and a loyal member of the underground resistance movement called Team AVALANCHE, Tifa is just one of the many popular characters who inhabit Square Enix’s beloved Final Fantasy VII. She is so well-liked that fans have created plenty of artwork depicting Tifa with short hair or a more muscular physique. On the other hand, the internet has also produced plenty of decidedly less wholesome works of the spunky bartender-turned-resistance fighter, something that’s all too common in the world of video game characters.
While not an overtly political story, Final Fantasy VII does deal with several serious real-world topics like environmentalism and corporate corruption, things that often turn up in political debates and government meetings. Despite some recent statements from Square Enix’s president that seem tocontradict Final Fantasy VII's overall themes, many fans consider Final Fantasy VII to be an incredibly thought-provoking title that still resonates even nearly three decades after its original release on the first PlayStation. However, one of Final Fantasy VII’s main characters recently found herself involved in real-world politics in a completely different and unexpected way.
