A leaked image from the FIFA 23 website seems to confirm that EA and Marvel are working together for the first time in over 10 years.
Crossovers seem to have become the go-to method to get people interested in long-running video games. The likes of Fortnite, Call Of Duty, and Fall Guys routinely announce new collaborations to surprise us with and, if a recent leak is to be believed, FIFA is getting into it as well.
Earlier today, an image began circulating on social media of a promotional image for this year’s FIFA 23. Specifically, it’s for something called Heroes and features both the game’s logo and the logo for none other than Marvel.
We wouldn’t blame you for assuming this was just a very convincing fake, but there’s a reason some believe this is legitimate. If you type ‘FIFA 23 heroes’ into Google Images, the second result is the aforementioned picture with the official FIFA 23 website credited as the source.
Clicking on it takes you to the page for FIFA 23’s Ultimate Team mode and its FUT Heroes, cards that represent particularly famous football players from across the sport’s history.
There’s obviously no sign of the Marvel logo, but the fact that EA’s website is listed as the source suggests that this is official and not some bizarre ruse. Although it’d be a weird one to make up just for clout.
The next question to ask is what form this Marvel crossover will take. The immediate assumption is that certain Marvel characters will be added as players who you can recruit for your team in the Ultimate Team mode.
Except the FIFA games have always been based in reality. They’re football simulators, not outlandish, cartoony experiences like Fortnite. The older Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games did have Marvel characters like Iron
