Unlike his MCU counterpart, Marvel Comics' Shang-Chi has gone without using the Ten Rings for a long time, only until recently did he start to master them. With the new release of Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings, Shang-Chi would be forced to face off against his most deadly enemies in a battle for the ages. In a brutal battle, the Ten Rings became his last resort and Shang-Chi decided to wield them against his enemies once again.
Before now, Shang-Chi had been afraid of the Ten Rings, only using them as a last resort weapon before locking them away to protect the outside world from their power. After taking over his father’s organization, the Five Weapons Society, Shang-Chi inherited the Ten Rings, powerful weapons that seem to have a will of their own. Despite his fear of them, Shang-Chi must set out to master their power and take control of these weapons so he may become more powerful than ever before.

In this first issue of Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings by Gene Yang, Marcus To, and Dike Ruan, Shang-Chi is seen saving members of his organization who mistakenly opened the vault containing the rings. His fear of them manifests when he throws the rings off his arm and locks them away again, hoping never to use the Ten Rings again. Fate had different plans, though, and during a mini golfing trip with his girlfriend, the two are attacked by Razor Fist. After a swift defeat, Shang-Chi is summoned back to the house while it was attacked by various organizations such as A.I.M., The Red Dot Collective, The Hand, and The Inner Demons.
