With The Last of Us Part 1 coming to fans in September, there has been a lot of news around the title and the franchise as a whole lately. Some of this information has been controversial, as fans hotly debate The Last of Us Part 1's price tag and whether its improvements mark enough of a change from the original 2013 title. Among the news and speculation on The Last of Us Part 1, a rumor began to develop that Joel and Ellie would be coming to Fortnite alongside the remake's release.

However, thanks to Co-President of Naughty Dog Neil Druckmann, it appears that there may be no truth to these rumors after all. On his Twitter page, Druckmann responded to one fan who has since deleted their tweet about Joel and Ellie becoming playable characters in Fortnite. «Love me some Fortnite,» Druckmann began, «but there are no plans for this. False rumor.» This seemingly confirms that at least for now, The Last of Us Part 1 will not be crossing over with Fortnite.
