DC dropped its first Blue Beetle trailer yesterday, teasing the hero's origin story in which Jaime Reyes bonds with an alien technological scarab. Something unique about his powerset is that, thanks to the AI behind his suit, he can create whatever comes to mind, so of course he uses it to conjure up Final Fantasy 7's iconic Buster Sword.

However, there's a debate on whether it actually is the Buster Sword. Most agree it's a Final Fantasy weapon, but which one? It looks like a mix of the Buster Sword's blade, making that the most prominent feature, but it also has Tidus' colour scheme from FFX, and the gunblade's handle, so it's essentially a Final Fantasy pick 'n mix.
For many, this quick snippet of the trailer was the highlight, with countless posts cropping up in excitement at seeing a Final Fantasy weapon ripped from the games for live-action. Some are even speculating that there might be other video game weapons added to BB's arsenal over the course of the movie, and that Cloud's sword is just the tip of the iceberg.
The sword scene isn't just a hit with Final Fantasy fans either, as many are likening it to something from Sentai, Kamen Rider, or Power Rangers, especially given other scenes shown in which he storms down a corridor kicking mercenaries into walls, and where he transforms into his superhero persona via a nanotech gadget.
It won't be long before we'll get to see Blue Beetle in cinemas, as it releases on August 18, just after The Flash. We'll get to see that Buster Sword in action, but who knows? Maybe we'll even see BB whip out the portal gun or an energy sword. Okay, maybe not, but a geek with the ability to create anything
