The latest event isn't going down well as some of the game's most elusive items have become even more rare, frustrating fans who can't grind for hours every day. Fasnacht Day has become a staple of as many survivors look forward to the annual celebration that includes a decidedly chaotic (but fun) quest and some sought-after cosmetics that have become marks of prestige in the community. Unfortunately, 2024's Fasnacht Day celebrations have been hampered by the addition of several new masks that have skewed the drop rate into an untenable position.
Per GamesRadar+, the latest iteration of Fasnacht Day introduced a whole range of new masks for players to collect but given that they're incredibly rare by default, they have a shockingly low drop rate of just 0.238%. While the more common masks have somewhat higher drop rates, players who are only after the new additions would need to complete the event thousands of times to simply stand a fraction of a chance to collect a portion of the most recent masks. The «Glowing» variants are sparking controversy among the community as players accuse Bethesda of greedy practices.

While it's no doubt fun that 2024's Fasnacht Day has brought with it some more unique masks for players to collect, the fact that Bethesda hasn't adjusted the drop rates is the real problem here. Over on Reddit, several players have complained that the drop rate shouldn't be below 1% given the restrictions on the event. The actual Fasnacht Day quest repeats hourly, so players will, realistically, only be able to complete it a few times a day depending on how dedicated they are to the game.
