Fallout 76 Steam migration will kick off in just a few short weeks, and come April 27, you can ditch the Bethesda Launcher entirely.
Bethesda has all of the newest details here, including the announcement of a little perk for Fallout 76 players. So here’s the gist: on April 27, you can transfer everything over to Steam. After May 11, the switch for the Bethesda Launcher will be turned off, and you can’t use it at all. Beyond that date, you’ll need to use Steam. Bethesda says it will be “providing a tool” come April 27, which will make “the transition as seamless as possible.”
About those bonuses: “everyone who makes the effort to migrate between April 27 and May 11 by awarding you 10 rank-ups on the Season 9 Scoreboard. These gift ranks will be applied shortly after the start of Season 9 in June.” In short, it’s a seasonal level boost: so not the most exciting thing for people jumping back in the game, but nice for hardcore players who are already in the trenches.
And another reminder for those hardcore players: Bethesda has an FAQ that details everything from what happens to microtransaction currency on the Bethesda Launcher, to annual membership renewals through the different platforms that intertwine via the Fallout 76 Steam migration.
On the whole, it’ll feel nice to clean up the taskbar a bit later this month. Now we just need a few more annoying launchers to do the same thing and hit the road.
