Todd Howard, the acclaimed Bethesda Game Studios director, has confirmed that Fallout 5 will be the developer's next game following the release of The Elder Scrolls 6. The beloved studio is well-known for its lineup of RPG franchises, which will soon be expanded with next year's release of sci-fi epic Starfield. Last year Todd Howard revealed plans for Fallout 5 were in the early stages, and now the gaming industry icon has definitively confirmed the future title.
Bethesda Game Studios took the reigns of the Fallout franchise, which was originally created by Interplay Entertainment, back in 2004. While the first two games in the franchise were isometric turn-based RPGs, Bethesda's Fallout 3 let players explore the post-apocalyptic ruins of Washington D.C. from a first-person perspective instead. Borrowing mechanics from the Elder Scrolls series, the post-nuclear RPG spawned multiple sequels like Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. Back in 2018 Todd Howard officially announced that The Elder Scrolls 6 will follow Starfield, but no mention was made of another Fallout title. Fans have debated whether Fallout 5 or Elder Scrolls 6 will release first, but Howard has now given a definitive answer.
