Fallen Legion: Rise To Glory is an interesting little title. Originally released back on the PS Vita and PS4, this game was once two games, “Flames Of Rebellion” and “Sins Of An Empire”. Having double releases of the same game is not exactly uncommon, after all, Pokemon has done this since the dawn of the franchise.

What makes Fallen Legion unique, however, is that each game in this duology is actually its own game. Each entry has its own characters, and story. The catch is that each game is from the perspective of a different side of the same conflict (more or less). So this begs the question - which do you play first when both games are presented to you at once?
First things first, mechanically, both games are more or less the same. Fallen Legion is a 2D RPG that uses a reflex-driven action combat system. You control three undead warriors known as Exemplars, and you go from location to location killing all manner of enemies. Each Exemplar has its own progression path, abilities, combos, and attacks, and this is where the variety and depth stem from.
Laendur and Cecille have different Exemplars, and this is where things get interesting. There are some crossovers, but at the start, in particular, they have very different parties. In general, we found that Laendur had a trickier start than Cecille as his Exemplars, whilst great, took a while to get a balanced team.
Whilst mechanically Flames Of Rebellion and Sins Of An Empire are fairly similar, they diverge quite significantly in terms of story.
