Ewan McGregor reveals the iconic Obi-Wan Kenobi quote he doesn't enjoy saying in public for Star Wars fans. Sir Alec Guinness originated the role of the aging Jedi master Ben Kenobi, a.k.a Obi-Wan, in the original 1977 Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his performance. McGregor then took over the role of Obi-Wan for the prequel trilogy, debuting as a younger version of the character in 1999's The Phantom Menace, and his portrayal went on to become equally beloved.
Following what was believed to be McGregor's final portrayal in 2005's Revenge of the Sith, the future of Obi-Wan hung in the balance for several years until the Disney+ show Obi-Wan Kenobi was finally announced in 2019. McGregor returns to lead the cast alongside Hayden Christensen, reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, as well as Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse, back as Owen and Beru Lars. Set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, the Obi-Wan series finds the titular Jedi watching over a young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine as the threat of the Inquisitors looms.
