With Act 2 of 's Episode: Revenant on the horizon, Bungie devs have some exciting news about the game's upcoming act. Despite the changes that arrived in Revenant: Act 1, the paltry content that Act 1 contained was less than impressive; however, there's still hope for Act 2 and beyond. The Act 2 livestream was about an hour of news regarding the next act's activity, weapons, and more.
For those not caught up with Act 1, Episode: Revenant focuses on yet another Echo remnant of the Witness, this time in the hands of the Scorn, Fikrul. Still loyal to Uldren Sov he once knew, Fikrul is using the power of the Echo to turn living Eliksni into Scorn, which is a process that used to only be possible using dead Eliksni. The Guardian joins Eido and Mithrax to stop Fikrul and save the Eliksni of House Light from Fikrul's corruption. Act 2 will continue this story, adding a bunch of new content to look forward to.
It's certainly true that one of the team's biggest weaknesses has historically been creating a replayable seasonal activity that doesn't feel like pulling teeth, and the Contest of Elders activity is its newest effort. This activity returns Guardians to the Prison of Elders, again following the whims of the Warden Servitor. Unlike the pre-Final Shape seasonal exotics, the new exotic armors for Destiny 2: Revenant can be found in a new location.
It's clear that devs at Bungie know that the seasonal activities are getting stale, but whether Contest of Elders fixes this issue remains to be seen. Now, there's only so much that can be done to prevent Guardians from getting bored, but the addition of random encounters, added modifiers, and new mechanics should keep things feeling fresh for just a bit longer than they have in previous seasons.
