When Mario Strikers launched with a lack of content in June 2022, fans were expecting some extra content such as playable characters to be added later. Daisy especially was a fan favorite that was missing from the launch roster's sparse cast, which only had ten characters. However, the game's additions officially begin about a month after launch, when the first major update comes to Mario Strikers: Battle League on July 21.

In the free update for Mario Strikers: Battle League, players can look forward to getting their hands on Shy Guy and Daisy as playable characters, a new stage, Desert Ruin, and the Knight gear set, which improves strength, shooting, and passing at the expense of speed and technique. Daisy and Shy Guy are both welcome additions to the game's roster. There might be even more coming, according to a Mario Strikers: Battle League post-launch datamine that showed more characters.
