Sony’s second State of Play presentation of the year is here. We’re expecting it to give us a clearer look at what the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2’s video game lineup will look like throughout the back half of 2024. Right now, games like Until Dawn’s remake and Concord are the only ones confirmed for a 2024 release, but hopefully, more show up at this event
If you play a lot of games on your PS5, you definitely won’t want to miss anything that PlayStation Studios or any of its third-party partners reveal over the course of this State of Play. Sony-owned Firewalk Studios first teased the sci-fi multiplayer game Concord during a PlayStation Showcase last year, but we didn’t actually know that much about the game itself. We finally got a better idea about it through another cinematic trailer and gameplay reveal. The cinematic trailer shows some of the main characters fighting each other over a device. We then saw what that’d actually look like in gameplay: a 5v5 first-person hero shooter where the heroes are called Freegunners. It’s certainly reminiscent of games like Overwatch and Lawbreakers. Concord will be released for PC and PS5 on August 23, with a beta taking place in July.
The latest in a long string of PC ports, Sony has confirmed that God of War: Ragnarok will grace PC on September 19. It looks like it will be the same exact base game and Valhalla experiences that players got on PS4 and PS5, just with all the bells-and-whistles we’ve seen in recent PS5 to PC ports like the one for Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut.
