You can tell when a gamer community, in particular, is getting desperate for something to happen because they’ll go all out to try and say that something “will happen” or “will happen soon” based on nothing more than “sources.” Sadly, this is something that is a regular thing for when gamers hope a Nintendo Direct is coming. To be fair, typically, the Directs are one of the best things in the gaming year, as each one often has big surprises, new looks at big games, and gets Nintendo Switch owners hyped about what is coming up. But we haven’t had one since February, and that’s got gamers rather antsy.
Plus, when you add that anxiousness to the gaming week we had where Xbox, Capcom, Ubisoft, and more came forward with massive presentations for their upcoming titles, yet Nintendo was quiet, you can see why they want a Direct sooner rather than later.
But that’s where the problems start, isn’t it? Because ever since that week of gaming got close, people have been predicting a Nintendo Direct with regular frequency even when Nintendo has hinted at nothing of the kind. Fast forward to this past weekend, and yet another rumor dropped. The source came from a “Brazilian website with a reliable record,” and they were told that they had sources inside Nintendo that said a Direct would come “next week.” That rumor spread, and then Insiders like Stealth started reporting about it on Twitter:
