Elizabeth Olsen, who plays The Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has stated that she is not missing her time in the superhero franchise. She revealed this in a video interview with Variety you can watch below.
«No, I don't miss it,» Olsen said. «I just did two years straight of it, so I think the break has been good for me. I need to build other characters.» She added that she needs to build other characters, and that it's nice to have something else to focus on. This comes after the star expressed frustration in a recent interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert regarding doing her own stunts in Marvel projects, jokingly calling it a «waste of everyone's time.»
Despite these comments, Olsen has reaffirmed her desire to return to the MCU--though adds she currently has no contract with the studio. She clarified that any doubts of her enthusiasm are unfounded and that she has no idea when or if she will return to the franchise.
Olsen has taken time away from the series and is looking forward to working with directors who have strong points of view. She mentioned Reuben Oslin, Yorgos Lanthimos, Ari Aster, and Quentin Tarantino as examples.
Wanda Maximoff first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. However, it wasn't until Phase 3 that the character became a significant part of the franchise. In 2021, Olsen led her own headline show in WandaVision and later played the lead antagonist role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
