A new mod for Elden Ring has introduced a transmog system into the game. Transmog is a popular feature included in several gear-based games like Destiny 2, though despite Elden Ring's broad selection of loot, it's an addition that is notably absent from the base game.
Gear is a major part of Elden Ring. Players begin the game with armor appropriate to their chosen class; Bandits start with light, cloth armor, Prisoners begin with rags and a metal helmet, etc. Over the course of the adventure, players will discover a wide array of unique and stylish armor pieces, each with their own distinct stats and attributes. As is typically the case with RPGs, some gear will be common, regularly appearing as item drops from enemies, while a few collectibles are much rarer, with some only attainable by defeating bosses or clearing challenging dungeons. Regardless of rarity, each piece of gear has been attentively designed, with styles ranging from traditional medieval garb to abstract, impossible costumes. Many of these armor pieces connect directly to Elden Ring's lore.

Elden Ring players who have difficulty choosing between fashion and stats can now use a new mod that introduces a transmog system. Created by NexusMods user pelooleq, rather than simply having a piece of gear adopt the stats of another, this mod removes immunities, resistances, and poise from all armor, making them purely cosmetic. These attributes are instead transferred to three different talismans, meaning that players can mix and match independent of what armor they choose to equip.
