players who've been using the DLC's new Perfumes to deal incredible amounts of damage to bosses will need to find a new strategy because FromSoftware has just nerfed one of the game's best combos. The recently added Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle and Lightning Perfume Bottle have gained notoriety in the community for their ability to stack damage on a concentrated area, effectively eliminating most of the game's toughest bosses in one attack. The method became so popular that the developer has now stepped in and corrected the bug causing the exploit.
Per the official Bandai Namcoblog (via Game Rant), FromSoftware has officially fixed a glitch that allowed the Lightning Perfume Bottle and Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle to deal double damage under certain circumstances. If that wasn't enough, the developer has also mended an issue with the Rolling Sparks Skill, an ability often combined with Lightning Perfume Bottle, that caused it to deal more damage than intended. The result is that those players who used the aforementioned combo will need to look elsewhere because it won't be anywhere near as effective as it once was.
Shadow of the Erdtree is getting a reputation for perhaps pushing the difficulty too far, but FromSoftware has made a harder game before.
Aside from nerfing the Perfume Bottle/Rolling Sparks tactic, the 1.12.3 Patch introduced a range of minor balance changes that may alter some player's builds.These include increasing the Intelligence scaling on the Carian Sorcery Swordwhile also decreasing its base damage, making it more effective over a longer period but not as effective a blade when it's first acquired. The throwing attack range on both the Smithscript Daggerand Smithscript Cirquehas also been increased meaning players who like to maintain a healthy distance from their targets will be pleased.
