New hands-on impressions for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion have dropped, revealing several fresh details. These include two of the new Legacy Dungeons that players will venture to. In three hours of playtime, IGN outlined two in its preview: Belurat and Castle Ensis.
The former is “somewhere between the size of something like Stormveil Castle and Castle Morne.” Described as having several side paths and enemies like giant scorpions, Gravebirds and armored knights, its boss is the Divine Beast, Dancing Lion (since in the reveal and story trailers). It’s tough enough in the first phase, but its second goes even harder, alternating between lightning and ice attacks.
Castle Ensis is similar to Caria Manor, with several magic enemies, including a giant in Carian Armor and an “extremely difficult Carian Knight.” Relanna, Twin Moon Knight, is the boss of this dungeon, utilizing swords and magic. He uses fiery melee strikes in the second phase but also unleashes what seems to be an alternate version of Rennala’s Full Moon. Given the naming, perhaps there’s some connection between the two.
It’s worth noting that these aren’t the only two dungeons in the expansion, as IGN mentions missing “at least one other” that has “a seemingly exciting boss fight.” Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launches on June 21st for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC, retailing at $39.99. Stay tuned for more details shortly.
