FromSoftware is alerting players that Elden Ring’s servers will be down tomorrow at certain times in order ”to help improve some multiplayer functions.” Many Elden Ring players have reported issues with the game’s multiplayer functionality, especially when playing with friends in co-op mode. This is in addition to various complaints about performance on PC.
Both Bandai Namco and FromSoft have communicated that Elden Ring will receive iterative improvements over time for both single-player and multiplayer performance. Hopefully these server-side upgrades will enable future patches to improve FromSoft’s first foray into an open-world Dark Souls game.

With the servers down, Elden Ring’s multiplayer components like co-op, PvP, and messages will be disabled. You should still be able to play the game in offline mode, however. Server downtime for each platform and region is listed below.

Xbox players had the worst of Elden Ring’s multiplayer issues after launch. A version mismatch error prevented anyone on the Xbox platform from doing anything requiring an online connection, instead greeting players with the dreaded "Network Status Check Failed" message. Yesterday’s 1.05.1 patch should have solved this issue, letting Xbox Tarnished continue their journey into The Lands Between with a friend (or foe).
