For a limited time, modder and Patreon user Otis_Inf has opened up free access to their Elden Ring Photo Mode mod on PC. Apart from the Photo Mode in the Demon's Souls remake, Souls games don't typically feature baked-in screenshot creation and editing tools. The alternate use of this particular mode as a pause screen in Demon's Souls probably explains why FromSoftware eschews such features in its notoriously challenging games.
Photo Modes have long existed in the PC space and even gained a bit of steam on consoles with titles such as PlayStation 2's Gran Turismo 4. However, it was arguably InFamous: Second Son on PS4 that truly unlocked the power of game mode, thanks in no small part to Sony's forward-thinking implementation of a 'Share' button on its DualShock 4 controller. Now, most major releases boast photo editing options to some degree, with a few iterations of the mode proving far more intricate than others. Ghost of Tsushima's Photo Mode set a particularly high bar that has yet to be contested. Sometimes, however, the bare minimum is all players want, especially when it comes to capturing the beauty of stunning open worlds like Elden Ring.

As spotted by Wccftech, modder Otis_Inf designed an Elden Ring Photo Mode mod that will remain free of charge on their Patreon page until Thursday, March 10. The mod is packed with photo editing features, including HUD toggle, frameskip, FOV control, vignette removal, Chromatic Aberration removal, and control of the sunlight's direction. Notably, the latter acts as some sort of a "pseudo Time of Day" option, according to Otis_Inf's Patreon post.
