While the online co-op feature in Elden Ring does not include voice chat, the game allows Tarnished to «vocally» communicate with their fellows through Prattling Pates. These spherical clay sculptures resemble a miniature clay head and grant adventurers a single repeatable phrase to express to other players. The so-called «voice» emitted by a Prattling Pate sounds both grimly ominous yet whimsically comical, resulting in fun player interactions in Elden Ring.
The Lands Between offers a total of eight Prattling Pates hidden across the regions. Some are very simple to find, while others require more demanding effort. Nevertheless, once Tarnished has collected them all, the satisfaction of showing off the many clay utterances they have gathered will undoubtedly be a driving motivation for many travelers. To use a Prattling Pate, the player can select the item within their Inventory to activate the voiced phrase. However, the proper and more convenient method would be to place one or two into the Hotbar-like Item Pouch.

Keep in mind that the first three Prattling Pates can be easily obtained within the starting region. Yet, the rest require Tarnished to complete an Elden Ring Dungeon or find the hidden passageways to the next area. Furthermore, the final Prattling Pate, «My Beloved,» is located in a secret region of the map that is part of a questline but can also be accessed by collecting specific Key Items.
