This continues in Elden Ring, with invaders being able to enter the world of another player with the intent to kill them. Depending on what the player is doing, this can become a big hindrance. Especially if the invader decides to use the horse of a merchant as a body shield.

A Redditor by the name of DQC- posted a video showing them chase down an invader in Elden Ring. The clip shows DQC- chase the enemy into the Church of Elleh in Limgrave. As the player starts closing in, the invader makes a move that is both smart yet heinous.
As DQC- comes down on their opponent, the invader reaches Merchant Kale, and begins to use their horse as a shield. The two players dance a bit, with DQC- being careful not to hit the horse. When DQC- finally goes in for the hit, they strike Merchant Kale's horse by accident. As the clip comes to an end, we see the Elden Ring merchant get angry with the player as the invader claims a dubious moral victory.
Some commented that DQC- should not have chased the invader. They state that this is a tactic from older Dark Souls games, and that DQC- should not have taken the bait.
