Elden Ring features a huge array of weapons, shields, and magic that players can use to overcome the terrifying foes that await them in the Lands Between. Among these tools is the Coil Shield, a light shield that can conjure a snake head to bite at foes directly ahead of it.

Elden Ring: How To Get To Miquella's Haligtree Secret Area
The ideal place to start from when seeking the coil shield is Mt Gelmir's Ninth Campsite (Marked in red on the map above), which players exploring the Mt Gelmir region (likely seeking to continue the quest lines of Patches and/or Rya) will likely have stumbled across already.
For players who haven't found it yet, it can be located by entering the Mt Gelmir region of Altus Plateau via the bridge. Players should then follow the road until finding a ladder on the left leading up the cliffs. Next players should continue progressing upward and forward through the cliffs until a rope bridge is found, with the Campsite on the far side of the bridge near a Spiritspring and a ladder. The Grace at this location is very close to the location of the Coil Shield and is an excellent place to set out from.
Heading northeast from Mt Gelmir's Ninth Campsite and following the mountain's curve, players will eventually find a place where they can drop down a hole safely (use rainbow stones thrown down the hole to check for a safe spot to land, they'll shatter if the fall would kill) and double back on themselves to find a cave entrance (Marked in red on the map above).
