Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has been percolating for some time now, initially beginning life as a Kickstarter project and spiritual successor to the Suikoden series. With launch just over a month away, on 23rd April on PS5 and PS4, we got a substantial new trailer showing off just some of the game's many companion characters, interspersed with some compelling snippets of gameplay.
A central conceit of Eiyuden Chronicle is its extensive list of playable characters. Like Suikoden and Chrono Cross before it, scores of potential party members are scattered across the game world. From steadfast knights to rakish rogues, talking sharks, and otherworldly beings, it looks like an eclectic lot, and tracking down particularly desirable companions is all part of the fun.
Sadly, Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of Suikoden and Eiyuden Chronicle, recently passed away following complications from an ongoing illness. Murayama won't get to see fans' reactions to his work. Still, developer Rabbit & Bear Studios said that his work as a scenario was finished and can be enjoyed when the game launches.
