Ed, the next fighter for Street Fighter 6’s growing roster, will release on 27th February as part of the Year 1 Character Pass. See some Ed gameplay in the latest trailer for the character:
Following in the footsteps of Rashid and AKI, Ed is the third DLC fighter through Street Fighter 6’s Year 1 of added content. Once he’s released, players will be able to find him through all of the game’s modes, including World Tour, Fighting Ground and Battle Hub.
First appearing in Street Fighter V, Ed was actually the inspiration for the Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6, but has now been expanded to have proper Classic Controls for the new game.
His moves include:
However, honestly, I feel the oddest thing about Ed is just how big his hoodie is. Yes, he needs it to account to his ludicrous muscles, but there’s no way that’s not a tailored hoodie, is it?
Owners of the Year 1 Character Pass, Ultimate Pass, Deluxe Edition, or Ultimate Edition will automatically get access to Ed when he unlocks. Ultimate Pass and Ultimate Edition owners will also get the new state Ruined Lab automatically, which is set in the aftermath of Shadaloo’s fall.
In the run up to Ed’s release, the “Ed Arrives!” Fighting Pass is also now live and running for a limited time, with players able to earn some themed boxing equipment.
Street Fighter 6 launched last June to universal praise, setting a new benchmark for fighting games. In our Street Fighter 6 review, Nick said, “Street Fighter 6 doesn’t need recommending to hardcore fighting fans – you all already know how incredible it is – but do I recommend it for more casual players? Street Fighter 6 has a real sense of community, welcoming all players old and new, teaching new tricks and providing something for those that just want a bit of fun. This is truly a fighting game for everyone.”
Street Fighter 6 is out now across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PC.
