Skate fans have not been graced with a new game in over a decade, with Skate 3 releasing way back in 2010. EA first announced a new Skate game back in 2020, however, fans did not have too much to get excited about as information relating to the sequel has been scarce at best.
EA CEO, Andrew Wilson recently stated in an earnings call with shareholders that the Skate sequel (unofficially referred to as Skate 4 by fans) will be launching soon, but did not provide a specific date or time frame for the title. This took many fans by surprise considering that EA has shown no formal gameplay of the title as yet. Wilson also noted that the new Skate entry will strongly rely on user-generated content similar to the way in which The Sims and FIFA and Madden's Ultimate Team modes do.

The last time fans received any new information about the fourth entry in the Skate series was in mid-2021. EA uploaded a teaser video to YouTube that gave a behind-the-scenes look at the game back then, and even the people depicted in the video made self-aware jokes regarding the lack of information about the game. This video was posted only six months ago, which makes one wonder how far along Skate 4 really is.
Even though there is little information about the new game Skate fans still seem to be exceptionally excited about it. After the release of Skate 3, EA expressed no interest in creating a new Skate game, although this did not stop fans from asking for one. But after years of fan demand, EA finally caved in and announced the new Skate project.
