A Battlefield 2042 refund petition is rapidly gaining support
A petition calling for publisher Electronic Arts to let players claim Battlefield 2042 refunds is rapidly gaining support.
The Change.org petition has as the time of publication been signed by some 29,000 users – a significant increase from the 5,000 or so who had signed it when it was spotted by Windows Central on Monday.
“EA’s release of Battlefield 2042 was a mockery of every customer who purchased this video game for $70 (USD) due to EA’s false advertising,” claims the petition.
“Battlefield 2042 has cost consumers millions of dollars in damages and upset thousands of customers worldwide.
“According to many consumer reports, Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable.
“Even today, Battlefield 2042 has bugs that drastically change the in-game experience so much that it’s deemed an unfinished release by many community members.”
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said last week that the company remains committed to Battlefield 2042 and the franchise’s fans after the game’s disappointing launch.
Addressing performance issues and the company’s plans for the title during its third quarter earnings call, Wilson backed developer DICE to turn Battlefield 2042’s fortunes around by re-engaging its fanbase and claimed to believe the game will “do really well over the course of time”.
He said: “Developing this game with our teams working from home for nearly two years ultimately proved to be challenging. Through our process of testing and preparation, we believed the experience was ready to be put in players’ hands.
