Resurrected from Advanced D&D in the late '80s, Wizards of the Coast announced the new Dungeons & Dragons book Spelljammer, which hits stores this summer. The latest sourcebook is actually a set of three hardcover books in a slipcase, making this feel like a grandiose adventure, and this was announced during the very first D&D Direct.
Arriving on August 16, this is more than just a new book. It's a new setting, new adventures, new monsters, and new character options--a major update from the Advanced D&D version from the late '80s. D&D is essentially dropping a whole new game based on the d20 system for $70. And you all get to go to space, which is pretty dang exciting for longtime players. The upcoming addition to your 5e D&D play contains three 64-page books: Astral Adventurer's Guide, Boo's Astal Menagerie, and Light of Xaryxis. Each of these books serves a specific purpose. Astral Adventurer's Guide is a sourcebook for players and DMs. It contains the rules for running games in wild space and new playable race options.

Boo's Astal Menagerie is a new bestiary. A few of the new monsters that appear in here were mentioned in the D&D Direct, and they include: Space clowns, Vampirates, Murder comets, Giant space hamsters, Solar dragons, and Lunar dragons--because it wouldn't be D&D without new dragons.
