Nacon and Eko Software have announced Dragonkin: The Banished, a new hack ‘n’ slash game coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in February 2025.
It’s described as a “tribute” to the genre, with an original dark fantasy that features character classes featuring mutant hybrids between dragons and humans.
Dragonkin will feature both solo and co-op for up to four players, with the narrative driving force being to track down and battle powerful dragons in order to free the world from their domination.
Eko Software’s recent launch line up is heavy on the Rugby and Handball sports games, but a few years ago they had another hack ‘n’ slash action RPG with Warhammer: Chaosbane. We handed that game a solid 7/10 with Nick saying it’s “a good, solid dungeon crawling action RPG, but outside of a well executed Warhammer theme it’s just not doing anything new.”
Admittedly, that’s because “it’s standing in the shadow of Diablo III, a titan that’s been doing it for a long time and that you can’t help but make comparisons with,” so can Dragonkin: The Banished do more to stand out now that we have Diablo IV and other action RPGs like Last Epoch?
