SNK has announced the return of Fatal Fury, coming 26 years after the series’ last release. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be coming in 2025, though platforms are yet to be confirmed. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will also have English voice acting. SNK had first teased a new Fatal Fury in 2022, but had not given any details outside of some artwork.
Although there has not been an new title for many years the series has been kept alive with ports of the older titles on to new systems. In 2021, Fatal Fury First Contact landed on Switch, a port of game that originally appeared on the Neo Geo Pocket console.
“Fatal Fury First Contact is a solid little fighting game, but it has little to offer beyond that,” said Thomas in our review. “Unless you are specifically a huge fan of the Neo Geo Pocket or all things Fatal Fury, there are definitely better fighting games you can spend your money on.” Sadly we only gave the game 6/10 so perhaps not an essential purchase.
While Fatal Fury has been absent for some time, SNK has been putting out fighting games including The King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown.
