A recent SteamDB listing seems to indicate that Dragon’s Dogma 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the best “recent” IP in Capcom’s catalog, might be getting a demo soon.
The hype started when u/CannedBeanofDeath on Reddit noticed a telltale piece of intel below:
It merely lists the addition of an “Unknown App” to the Dragon’s Dogma 2 backend on Steam. Still, there are only so many things that this unknown app can turn out to be, namely, the Dragon’s Dogma 2 demo. The smoking gun here seems to be that the “Unknown App” is listed as “free on demand”, a status that usually applies to demos.
As of the time of this writing, there’s no confirmation from Capcom that this will be the demo, but we know that Capcom sure loves their demos, and we also know that the release of DD2 will take place about one month from now. This would be a great time to get a demo out.
The original Dragon’s Dogma wasn’t exactly a massive hit when it first came out, possibly due to it not featuring the most amazing graphics of its era. Luckily, players quickly realized the game was filled with ultra-fresh gameplay ideas, such as having to climb huge enemies to kill them. You won’t be getting much giant-slaying done here by hitting monsters in their feet until they inexplicably die.
Ever since its release back in 2012, Dragon’s Dogma name has been growing in the hearts of the gaming community. It’s only natural that a lot of people are already revving up the engine of the sequel’s hype train.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 will come out on March 22 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
