A poster for the upcoming film, DowntonAbbey: A New Era gives a first look at new cast members, Hugh Dancy and Dominic West. The film, a follow-up to the first Downton Abbey film from 2019, will be coming to theaters later this year, and comes from the original creator of the show, Julian Fellowes, who is also the writer of the new film. A New Era, directed by Simon Curtis (The Art of Racing in the Rain), will follow the Crawley family and their staff traveling to the South of France due to an unexpected new villa inherited to the Dowager Countess.
Focus Features has now released an official poster for Downton Abbey: A New Era, which reveals the first official look at Dancy (Hannibal) and West (The Affair). The poster also shows mainstays of the Crawley family, including Maggie Smith's Violet (Dowager Countess of of Grantham), Hugh Bonneville's Robert (Earl of Grantham), Elizabeth McGovern's Cora (Countess of Grantham), and Laura Carmichael's Lady Edith Crawley, among many others. West is said to be playing a 1920s Hollywood silent movie star, and Dancy is said to be portraying a film director. Also joining the cast alongside Dancy and West will be Laura Haddock (White Lines), Nathalie Baye (Every Man for Himself), and Jonathan Zaccaï (Sink or Swim). Returning characters from the house staff include Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Joanne Froggatt, Robert James-Collier, Lesley Nicol, Phyllis Logan, Sophie McShera, Michael Fox, Kevin Doyle, and Raquel Cassidy. Downton Abbey: A New Era will be released in theaters on May 20, 2022.
