Rockstar Games announced last week that it would debut Grand Theft Auto 6’s first trailer on Tuesday, Dec. 5. But that may not have been the first time the company shared the trailer’s release date. Eager Grand Theft Auto fans believe that Rockstar hid the date in a T-shirt from a Grand Theft Auto 5 anniversary event in June.
The seemingly innocuous gray T-shirt was added to Grand Theft Auto Online during its San Andreas Mercenaries update in June. It has a long string of numbers outlining its alien design, and players noticed that they hide a message: The numbers translate to “one day will reveal all,” with each number corresponding to a respective letter in the English alphabet. However, within that sequence of numbers, a string of six stands out — 12523, which can be read as Dec. 5, 2023. Coincidence? Maybe! Rockstar hasn’t yet responded to Polygon’s request for comment.

A GTAForums user, itsLachieNZ, appears to have figured this all out in October, pointing out the numbers — and the potential hidden release date — in a thread. Others have since noted that the numbers that follow 12523 are 09, which is when (in Eastern time) the GTA 6 trailer will go live.
