Xbox has long made it clear that one of the big advantages to acquiring Activision Blizzard was securing more content for its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Unfortunately, fans have been waiting months to learn when they can start expecting to see titles from Activision Blizzard join the Game Pass lineup.
Xbox finalized the Activision Blizzard acquisition in late 2023. Since then, fans have wondered when the company's big titles would be hitting Xbox Game Pass. Xbox said that Activision Blizzard games wouldn't be coming to Game Pass in 2023, and so then all eyes turned to 2024. It's now been confirmed that Diablo 4 will be leading the charge when it comes to Activision Blizzard games on the platform.
Diablo 4 will be the first Activision Blizzard game to join Xbox Game Pass when it hits the service on March 28. It's unclear exactly when other Activision Blizzard games will come to Game Pass, so subscribers will have to stay tuned for more information on that front. Regardless, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can circle March 28 on their calendars as the day that they can try Diablo 4 without actually having to buy the game.
Bringing a game like Diablo 4 to Xbox Game Pass makes a great deal of sense. Diablo 4 is a live-service game after all, and bringing it to Xbox Game Pass will make it readily available to millions of more players who may have never checked it out if it meant paying full price. This in turn could help Diablo 4 as it releases its seasonal content and leads up to the launch of its first DLC expansion, set to release later this year.
