It's a big day for Destiny 2, as Bungie will be launching The Witch Queen DLC across all platforms. However, in the meantime, it's taken servers down for maintenance, meaning it's not currently possible to play Destiny 2. We're just hours away from servers coming back if all goes according to schedule. Here's when The Witch Queen releases.
Bungie has already warned players that there will be server queues, so you shouldn't necessarily plan your entire day around being able to get right in. As always, there will be a flood of players trying to get in to check out all of the many new features and additions, which include the Void 3.0 system, a campaign centered around Savathun, a new weapon crafting system, and more.

Preloading for the update is available, so be sure to try opening the game to verify you have it downloaded in advance. You'll see a new title screen (and accompanying theme song) to know you have update 4.0.0.1 installed. Full patch notes are expected later today.
Destiny 2 players on PS4 will be required to download all associated Destiny 2 required content before playing The Witch Queen, which can be done right now. This will essentially reinstall the entire game and its related content, but Bungie noted that the game will have a smaller installation size once the download is complete, which in turn will help improve the download and installation of future PS4 patches.
