On her journey to becoming a full-on hero after her stint as an antihero and origin as a villain in DC Comics, Harley Quinnperfectly flips one of the oldest cliches in fiction. Harley Quinn originally worked for the Joker in DC Comics as her infatuation with him led her to endure his constant abuse as she assisted him in all sorts of villainous activities. After breaking free from the Joker, Harley Quinn became something of an antihero as she didn’t necessarily follow the law but usually did the right thing in any given situation. Now, Harley is on the road to becoming a legitimate hero within DC Comics as she pulls off one of the oldest and most heroic feats in the book.
In Harley Quinn#12 by Stephanie Phillips and Riley Rossmo, Harley is working with her rag-tag team of wanna-be superheroes to stop the villainous actions of her new nemesis, Keepsake. In an effort to cripple Harley Quinn and her team, Keepsake comes up with a devious scheme to kill Harley’s ally, Kevin, with the hope that Harley herself will also die while trying to save him.

The villainous plot Keepsake comes up with is one as old as fictitious villains themselves. Keepsake had Kevin kidnapped and tied to railroad tracks, then the villain sent a train with a bomb on it speeding towards Kevin, ensuring that he die a gruesome death. However, Harley Quinn is able to act fast enough to save her ally by causing the bomb to explode before the train ran over her friend, then safely untying Kevin without any harm befalling him.
